Did they enroll in adult education courses at one time or another? 111 women participated in completing the questionnaire. They were graduated from five courses (sewing, hairdressing, computer skills, straw-making and cultural awareness in the two WPC programs, namely vocational (skills training) and cultural awareness between 1985 and 2008. It was not possible to contact other women graduates because WPC only recently started keeping records of them. Research question two: What were the women’s perceptions in regard to the programs? Did they feel the courses improved their lives? The majority of respondents stated that they benefited from the programs, especially in enhancing their self confidence.
